No Mr. Grumpy this week. Just the facts, Ma’am.
Overall Points scorers.
Our overall leader this week is A. Varna [Merrion] who has amassed an impressive 1,351 points. Last week’s leader S. Anderson [Phoenix] has dropped to second, whilst the third podium place belongs to Simranjit Singh [YMCA].
Twenty-eight players have managed to cross the 1,000 point threshold and all will harbour real hopes of topping the table come September.
The top 30 are:
8,438 wickets have been claimed between 1,190 bowlers who have at least one wicket, whilst there are another 231 bowlers who have yet to send one batsman on his way. S. Crawley [NCCC] has bowled the most overs without a wicket, 26.2.
Leading wicket taker is overall leader A. Varna [Merrion] with 44 wickets, which in these days of limited overs for bowlers must be considered quite a feat. Second is R. Kear [Balbriggan] who is a full dozen wickets behind our leader on 32. No-one else has taken more than 30 wickets..... yet.

Unsurprisingly the top wicket takers feature strongly in the most overs bowled table. No fantasy points for this category, but an indication of who is being flogged to death in pursuit of wickets, or who is playing for multiple teams. The following players have all bowled over 100 overs.

Fielding
Catches win matches is an old adage which keeps proving itself time and time again. Here are the leading fielders, with catches plus stumpings. A large number of entries are full or part time wicketkeepers, but let’s not worry about that. Even a figure of no stumpings doesn’t mean they are not a wicket-keeper!!

Well that is it for this week. No discussions, no grumpiness, no poking sticks to see if it moves.” Just the facts, Ma’am.”
Best of luck to the teams in the Russell Court Trophy and Whelan Cup Finals on Sunday, and of course the best of luck to the Ireland team hoping to win the T20 Qualifying tournament. If you get a chance to pop over to Malahide, you will see top class cricket, sporting emotion and a first class set up by Cricket Ireland and the ICC. I am not the ICC’s biggest fan, but credit were it is due.
