Kevin O’Brien, fresh from the Irish Cricket Team's successful Twenty20 World Cup qualifying tournament in Dubai will visit Mullingar Cricket Club on Sunday April 29th to hold a coaching session for our underage teams and to officially open the clubs cricket ground in St. Finian’s College, Mullingar.
In 2011, Kevin O'Brien smashed the fastest ever World Cup century off just 50 balls to inspire Ireland to a sensational World Cup victory over England in Bangalore. Kevin was eventually dismissed for 113 off 63 balls as Ireland recovered from 111-5 to overhaul England’s impressive target of 328 with five balls to spare and three wickets in hand.
On the day Kevin will take a coaching session for the clubs underage members from 12.30pm -2pm, where at 2pm the pitch will be officially open and Kevin will be available to sign autographs and pose for pictures. Then at 2.30pm a Mullingar Cricket Club XI will take on the Leprechauns Cricket Club in a Twenty20 match. There will be a BBQ and refreshments available throughout the day and it promises to be a fun afternoon for all the family.
If your child is interested in taking part in the training session, then please contact Mark Condell on 086-3013550 to book a place. Please book early to avoid disappointment, as there are only 20 places available for the session.
We look forward to welcoming many new and old members to the club. For more information, please see our Facebook or Twitter pages.
