Sadly the weather did for two out of the three matches last night, and the third had to be decided by DLS with only 11 overs bowled in the second innings.
The match that did get played saw a young Merrion side come out on top against Leinster, winning by a margin of nine runs after 11 overs on DLS. In conditions that were never great Leinster batted first and got off to a good start with Rebecca Rolfe [21] and Sophie MacMahon [50] putting on 67 for the first wicket. It was not until the 12th over that Merrion got the breakthrough but thereafter wickets fell regularly. Rachel Delaney [3/26] accounted for the two openers [both caught and bowled] and Kate McAlinden took 2/9 late on in the innings.
Leah Paul and Saibh Breslin opened up for Merrion but were both out by the time the score reached 32. But this was the last success of the evening for Leinster and Delany [17*] and Kaitlin Fryett [14*] brought the score to 68 without further loss before the match was abandoned to bad light.
The unofficial table now looks like this.
