Congratulations to Kilashee NS who won on Monday by just 1 run VS Blessington No. 1 NS. An intense game down to the last ball! This new league was played using a soft ball with a pairs cricket format. There were 4 pools where each team played each other once and then the top two teams got through to the next round.
Over 17 matches were completed in this new section of the Leprechaun Cup which incorporated schools from across South Dublin, DLR, Kildare and Wicklow.
Pool A: St. Kilian's NS (Kingswood, Tallaght); St. Mary's NS (Saggart); Blessington No. 1 NS (Wicklow) and Kilashee NS (Kildare).
Pool B: Esker ETNS (Lucan); Adamstown Castle ETNS; Devine Mercy NS (Balgaddy, Lucan) and Taney NS (DLR).
Pool C: St. Andrew's NS (Bray); St. Laurence's NS; St. Patrick's NS; Delgany NS.
Pool D: St. Bridget's NS, St. Kevin's NS (1), Kilcoole Primary and St. Kevin's NS (2).
Following the Pool stages Kilashee NS won against Adamstown Castle ETNS, Blessington No. 1 NS won against Devine Mercy NS, St. Patrick's NS won against St. Kevin's NS and St. Laurence's won against St. Bridget's NS.
Unfortunately not all of the Wicklow teams were able to fulfill their matches and due to the timing we did not have a quarter final played in time from Pool C and D. However, I would like to take the opportunity to thank Greystones CC and our Wicklow Development Officer Jim Stewart in assisting with this side of the competition. It was hugely successful to be able to have these schools all playing formal cricket matches against each other. A lot to build on next year.
Summary Scores from the Final 24th July 2019:
Kilashee NS 114 for 12 (net score 159 runs)
Blessington No. 1 NS 98 for 9 (net score 158 runs)
A massive thank you must go to Halverstown CC and David Bursey for hosting the final.
