Leinster Cricket Umpires & Scorers’ Association (LCU&SA) is organising a series of regional training workshops for players and scorers in the Laws of cricket. In addition to running through the basic Laws of the game, these workshops will also provide training in the many changes to the Laws which will come into effect in our cricket from 1 April 2018.
Whilst these courses are primarily designed for those players who regularly have to umpire their own matches, there is a substantial body of evidence that many players whose matches are usually umpired by LCU&SA appointees have significant gaps in their knowledge of the game. Additionally, a number of the Law changes will only apply in matches to which LCU&SA members are appointed
Each workshop will run over two evenings – approximately two hours per evening. The first session in North Kildare was held on 19th February and will be followed by the second part next Monday 26th February. In addition LCU&SA is pleased to announce the following sessions:
27 February and 6 March in The Courtyard, Ferns, Co Wexford. Members of Bagenalstown, Carlow, Gorey and Wexford CCs have been invited.
5 and 12 March in The Hills CC. Members of all clubs in Fingal plus Ashbourne, Knockharley and Dundalk CCs have been invited
5 and 12 March in Escape Internet Café, Longford. Members of Longford, Mullingar and Slieve Bloom CCs have been invited.
All sessions begin at 7.30pm sharp. Members of other clubs living in the catchment area of any session will also be welcome to attend. There is no charge for attendance.
A further announcement will be made about more training sessions in due course.
