The Leinster Cricket Umpires & Scorers’ Association (LCU&SA) is organising a series of regional training workshops for players and scorers in the Laws of cricket. In addition to running through the basic Laws of the game, these workshops will also provide training in the many changes to the Laws which will come into effect in our cricket from 1 April 2018.
Whilst these courses are primarily designed for those players who regularly have to umpire their own matches, there is a substantial body of evidence that many players whose matches are usually umpired by LCU&SA appointees have significant gaps in their knowledge of the game. Additionally, a number of the Law changes will only apply in matches to which LCU&SA members are appointed
Each workshop will run over two evenings – approximately two hours per evening. The first course will be held in North Kildare CC on Monday 19 and 26 February beginning at 1930 each evening. Members of North Kildare, Lucan, Clondalkin, Adamstown Laois and Halverstown cricket clubs have been invited but members of other clubs living in the area will also be welcome. There is no charge for attendance.
