D9: Three teams in contention
Clondalkin have a handy lead in D9 but Carlow [with a full point win to be added to the official table and a game in hand] are pressing hard as are Slieve Bloom. Clondalkin have two more games to play and neither provide the immediate chasing teams an opportunity to take them on. With the last game of the league scheduled for the 22nd September - it could be a while before the title is finally decided.
At the foot of the table Dundalk are struggling and even with a couple of games in hand look a racing certainty to go down. They will likely be joined by Longford 2 who have a long way to go to make up points on Malahide 4.
D10: Civil Service - out on their own
Civil Service [one of only three sides in the OC that are yet to be beaten in the league] are comfortably ahead with matches in hand. It would require a massive drop in form to wrest the trophy from their grasp.
On the other hand the battle for the second promotion spot is hotting up with Tyrrelstown, Castleknock and Balbriggan 2 all in the frame. With an unrecorded win yet to be included in official tables, Balbriggan have it in their own hands to take the runners up spot if they can continue winning. Any slip up and Tyrrelstown have points in the bag.
Things are also pretty intense in the bottom half of the table with four teams vying to avoid the two relegation spots. Although in the ranking they are comfortably mid-table Lucan [with 12 games played] can easily be overtaken by the teams below them who have 3/4 games in hand. There is little to choose and only 8 points dividing Mullingar 2, DLR County 3 and Adamstown 3 with DLR having an extra game to play.
D11: Merrion remain unbeaten
Merrion 6 are second team in the OC without a loss to blemish their league season. With 10 wins out of 10 and 25 points plus a match in hand over their nearest rivals [also a w/o still to be adjudicated upon] they are in a strong position to take the title.
Clontarf 5 are currently in second place and have an important game coming up against third placed Rush 3. YMCA 4, lying fourth, had a very good run for most of the season but have seen their challenge fall away in recent weeks.
North Kildare 3 are at the bottom of the table and there are no easy pathways to safety. Three teams - The Hills 4, Civil Service 3 and Sandyford 2 - have still much to play for to avoid the second relegation spot.
D12: AIB running away with Division
After a somewhat shaky start by their standards, AIB have put on the after-burners and are well ahead in points. Lucan 2, Leinster 5 and even Bagenalstown 2 can still mathematically catch them but at this point you would get good odds betting on anyone to stop AIB taking the title.
Halverstown are in clear trouble at the foot of the table with only two games to play. North County and Merrion 7 are battling to avoid the second relegation spot. North County have marginally the easier final three games but trail Merrion by 21 points.
D13: Phoenix in poll position
Phoenix 5 are top of the leader board in D13 [with an unrecorded full point win to be added] and it will take a massive effort by Adamstown 4 to make up the difference in the remaining three rounds. The title is between these two teams with no one else in sight.
The position at the foot of the table pretty much mirrors that at the top with two teams - Terenure 3 and Wicklow 2 - effectively detached from the teams above them. There is no survival route for Wicklow and Terenure would need to win their remaining games and Greystones 2 to lose all of theirs to change the positions.
D14: Gorey have unassailable lead
With Tyrrelstown 2 losing to Railway 4 [unofficial result] no team can now catch Gorey. Despite their loss Tyrrelstown are also looking very good for the second spot and just need a few points from their last two games to confirm this.
At the other end of the table Laois will be in the bottom two whatever happens in the remaining games. Knockharley 3, who have four scheduled fixtures to play, could get themselves out of trouble but need to put together a few wins quickly.
D15: Another two horse race
With only 12 points between Leinster 6 and Finglas in the official table there is still plenty to play for in the battle for D15 honours [the result of the Carlow 2 v Finglas game last weekend, which Carlow won, is not yet posted].
Carlow 2, with a large number of penalty points, are relegated but it is not clear who will join them. North Kildare 4 are the most likely as they are 40 points adrift of Greystones 3 - but they do have games in hand.
This is a league that has been devilled by walk-overs with no fewer than 7 matches so far this season not taking place for reasons other than weather.
D16: Ringcommons have fate in own hands
Ringcommons 2 have a commanding lead in D16 and may even have won the title on the field [we are still awaiting the posting of the results from some matches].
