Leinster Cricket Club (LCC) is currently seeking to recruit a groundsman, due to our current groundsman’s decision to take up a major opportunity elsewhere.
LCC is one of the oldest and largest cricket clubs in the country. At our grounds in Rathmines, Dublin 6, the club also has active tennis, squash, bowling, table tennis and bridge clubs, and a small fitness room. The Club’s membership consists of 600 adults and over 200 schoolchildren.
The Club is seeking to employ a fulltime all year round groundsman to maintain the playing surfaces of the club’s sporting facilities. Cricket is played from April to September, with the grounds in use on a daily basis by our 9 adult teams and 12 youth teams. Tennis and bowls are played for 12 months of the year on six all weather tennis courts and on our modern all weather bowling green. There are two recently refurbished squash courts.
Candidates for this position should have qualifications in the preparation and maintenance of cricket wickets and the outfield and be experienced in meeting the seasonal demands of a busy cricket club. Key duties will include the cricket pitch, as well as servicing the tennis courts and bowling green, and the other sports facilities, keeping the grounds tidy and presentable, and looking after the ground maintenance machinery. Attendance on weekends while senior cricket matches are taking place may occasionally be required.
The groundsman will report ultimately to the club’s Executive Committee but, on a day to day basis, will report to a Manager (Head of Grounds) appointed by the Executive Committee.
A detailed job description will be available.
It would be an advantage if the candidate was able to carry out maintenance duties on the Club’s clubhouse as the need arises from time-to-time. This can be discussed at interview.
This is an important position in a major sports club. Leinster CC are a significant player in Cricket Leinster’s Senior Leagues, and include a Ladies cricket team, and youth teams. There are very active tennis and bowling competitions, and two members of our Squash Club are on the Irish team.
Applications should be sent not later than Monday 6 May to the Club Administrator at the Club’s address at Observatory Lane, Rathmines, Dublin 6, or by email to admin@lccsports.net.
