The Leinster Under 15 Cup final took place in Rathmines yesterday between Leinster CC and YMCA. Leinster won the toss and elected to bat first. The Leinster opening batsmen quickly moved into their stride and established a partnership of 66 runs before the loss of the first wicket (Stephen Kerrison 26) in the 13th over. Daire Cassidy (59) and Finn Courser (48) formed the crucial partnership for the Leinster innings. The Rathmines team ended the innings with 191 runs on the board after the 30 overs.
YMCA lost 2 early wickets in the first and second overs before Wilhelm De Klerk (52) and Jack Flanagan (29) formed a strong partnership that moved the score along to 86 in the 13th over. Yash batted on in the middle order (27 runs) but wickets were continuing to fall at regular intervals. Ultimately YM came up 47 runs short. Stephen Kerrison had bowling figures of 2-12, whilst Joe O’Sullivan and Daire Cassidy picked up a couple of wickets each.
Leinster CC now move on to the All-Ireland finals later in the month.
