The Leinster development squad today depart to Durham to complete their 10th tour to the North East of England.
The Leinster squad, sponsored by RSA Insurance, led by coaches Brian O’Rourke and Nigel Pyne, will be participating in the prestigious ‘Hilton Newcastle Gateshead Cricket Championship’ in Durham, England.
The 12 man LCU squad will use the North East’s leading hotel, Hilton Newcastle Gateshead Hotel as their base while on tour. The hotel, regularly used by legendary sporting teams such as EPL champions Manchester United FC, start the 10th tour celebrations with a training session at Brandon CC.
The five-day tour sees the Leinster squad complete a schedule of two training camps (Monday and Friday) and three limited overs matches against NUSC at Brandon CC (Durham), the same ground England U19’s will use during their matches the following week in the North East.
John D Holland, Director of Cricket at NUSC added “The whole NUSC organization looks forward to welcoming the Leinster squad this week. We would like to acknowledge the tremendous work of Cricket Leinster, RSA Insurance, and the tour players to making this tour possible. They know we will be doing everything possible to compete with them on the field and ensure the 2013 tourists experience why the North East tour is iconic”.
