The strength in depth of Girls cricket in Leinster was evident as both Cricket Leinster teams finished clear at the top of the table after a series of T20 matches between Cricket Leinster and the two northern unions.
The tournament started late last month with "local" matches but the bulk of the action was in a festival this week in Campbell College.
With the two Leinster teams being dominant it came down to a Playoff between them for the title today.
Cricket Leinster U17 Girls 2 83/7 in 20 overs (J McNally 22, I McLean 11, G Sargent 12, G Morrissey 10, N MacNulty 1-10, A Tector 1-13, S Bhoja 1-14, I Light 1-5, A Squires 1-8)
Cricket Leinster U17 Girls 1 84/1 in 16.5 overs (LMcBride 44, A Squires 28*, E Jones 1-9)
Cricket Leinster U17 Girls 1 won by 9 wickets
Over the course of the tournament the Leinster teams used nearly 30 players, showing the strength in depth in the region. This is a testament to the work of Women's & Girls Development Officer Isobel Joyce, to Development Manager Naomi Scott Hayward and to all the Cricket Leinster development staff.
Congratulations to all that took part, in what is sure to create memories for a life time.
