The Leinster Lightning have made two changes to the 12-man squad that took on the Northern Knights this week in Pembroke for the return Test Triangle Inter-Provincial Championship match at Stormont from Tuesday August 6th to Thursday August 8th.
The first change sees Ireland’s established number three, Andrew Balbirnie, return to the squad after being forced to pull out on the morning of this week’s match with recurrence of the knock he had been carrying for several weeks.
Balbirnie will take the place of Gareth Delany who was 12th man at Pembroke.
The second change sees Merrion wicket-keeper Patrick Tice come in for Lorcan Tucker. The Pembroke man has exams and steps out for this week’s encounter.
Both sides took 10 match points from a rain-affected match at Pembroke this week. An entertaining match saw the Lightning take 20 wickets and come close to setting up a thrilling chase.
In the end, 140 in just eight overs was too big an ask and captain George Dockrell shook hands with Gary Wilson on the draw.
Phoenix’ Simi Singh was the star of the show for the Lightning with an unbeaten century and five for 38 in the second Knights’ innings.
The Leinster Lightning face the Northern Knights from Tuesday August 6th to Thursday August 8th from 11am each morning. The 3-day match will be live scored on the match centre on www.cricketleinster.ie with regular updates on @lcu_lightning and @cricketleinster on Twitter and daily reports from Stormont on the website.
