With Leinster Lightning Bolts games taking place in Cork at the same time, there are undoubtedly players who might otherwise have featured for the Leinster schools team or the Bolts team. There are no less than eight schools represented in the side which is captained by Eoin Birch of Ardgillan College who also plays his cricket at Balbriggan CC.
Not surprisingly, the squad includes 5 players from CUS and St Columba's College who featured in the recent Senior Schools Final which was won by CUS at the same venue in late May.
Three of the team will be playing at their home club ground including the very promising Dijkstra brothers (Seb and Isaac) and Daniel Forkin. Seb is in particularly good form having taken 5-38 for Merrion in the Senior 2 Cup Quarter-Final at the weekend.
The side is coached by former Ireland International, Kenny Carroll supported by Clontarf spinner, Cillian McDonnell who has been part of the CL coaching team for some years now.
As always, Stephen Tonge manages the team and will oversee the 2-day match as Leinster host their Ulster counterparts at Merrion CC.
Good luck to the boys representing Leinster is this traditional fixture which has a great heritage.
