For those participating in Open Competitions in Leinster at the most senior level there are two critical batting milestones. Passing the 5,000 run threshold means inclusion on the Leinster Senior [Batting] Career Batting Averages, which dates back to the start of the Leinster Senior League in 1919. The qualifying competitions are the Leinster Senior Leagues [Premiership and Championship] and the Leinster Senior Cup.
At the start of 2025 there are 96 players [out of 5,848 who have played at this level] who have scored 5,000 runs or more [see table below] and four players who competed in 2024 who have scored over 4,000. Closest to the threshold is Max Sorensen [Merrion and The Hills] who needs just 38 runs to reach the 5,000 mark. Other are a little further away. Joey Carroll [Leinster, The Hills and Phoenix] requires another 601 runs, Stephen Doheny [Merrion and Rush] 693 runs and Cormac McLoughlin-Gavin [Malahide, North County and The Hills] has most to do with 818 runs.
There is a second, and more exalted milestone, and that is reach the 10,000 run mark which only 13 players have achieved in over 100 years. John Anderson [Merrion and Railway Union] needs just 223 runs to achieve this mark.
