Leinster Senior Cup Final
All eyes on Claremont Road this morning when YMCA take on Clontarf in the Leinster Senior Cup Final. Although YMCA have ‘home’ advantage [will the teams have to toss for who has which dressing room], Clontarf must be counted as marginal favourites based on current form and record in the Leinster Senior Cup. Clontarf have won the competition seven times since 2000 compared to three times for YMCA. But the two teams have not met each other in the final in any of these matches. Clontarf are the current holders and YMCA won the cup in 2013.
Both teams are full of players who populate the top places in the current Leinster averages. Clontarf have the better balanced side with a very strong batting line-up and good support in the bowling. YMCA will be more dependent on their quirky bowling attack to sway the contest in their favour.
If you can make it down to Claremont Road there should be good entertainment in what is the showpiece of Leinster club cricket. The sun is shining and this may be the best day of the long weekend. Still not very warm though.
