Thirteen players qualified for the final Senior Averages for 2017 [D1/D2/LSC], achieving the 500 runs threshold.

Although the total runs scored by the leading batters has no direct correlation with the overall runs scored, the steady increase in the average runs per decade scored from the 1940s is an indicator of the greater dominance of the bat over ball. The fall in the average since 2010 has to do with the reduction in the number of matches played following the split in the Senior D1 / D2 Leagues.
