It is the season of cup draws and fixture announcements. First off the block is the draw for the Bob Kerr Irish Senior Cup, which was made last night by the Cricket Committee of Cricket Ireland, and as always, many interesting ties have been drawn, with several ties showing a repeat of ties if days gone by.
There are ten LCU clubs in the draw, with the eight Division 1 teams for 2012, automatically entered. Terenure will host Limavady in a repeat of the famous (or possibly infamous for those with Terenure connections) 1998 match in which Decker Curry scored 260*.
Leinster will travel to Lisburn, aping their 2009 quarter final match, which the LCU side won by 3 wickets. APart from Terenure, there are only two other known LCU sides who received a home draw, with Clontarf hosting Cork Harlequins, and The Hills playing against Bready.
Four more sides will be travelling to other parts of the Ireland. 2010 winners Merrion will be driving to Ballymena, 2006 winners Railway Union will travel to Glendermott, YMCA will make the short trek up the M1 to the 2011 runners up Instonians, whilst multi Irish Senior Cup winners North County will play the newly promoted North West side Creevedonnnell.
Two more LCU sides have also been drawn at home. There will be play offs between the four Division 2 sides who are eligible for the Bob Kerr, namely Phoenix, Pembroke, Rush and Malahide. Details of the play off matches will be announced shortly, with the winners of each match drawn at home to Donemana and CSN.
The matches are to be played on Saturday 12th May 2012
