Leinster U13s started their InterPro series in the perfect way yesterday, with a 213 run victory over their counterparts in the NCU.
There were fifty plus scores from Brian Dunphy, Robert O'Brien and Ethan Marshall as Leinster ran out convincing winners in the first of four InterPro games between the sides this week.
Leinster captain Dunphy hit 8 boundaries and 5 maximums as he top scored with 78, himself and opening partner Bruce Whaley (34) shared an opening stand of 94, before the Pembroke man was dismissed.
Railway Union starlet Robert O'Brien, nephew of Niall and Kevin, ensured the O'Brien name was still in lights on a great day for Irish cricket elsewhere, as he was in blistering form, smashing 68* in jig time, whilst Clontarf man Ethan Marshall stroked ten boundaries and a maximum in his fluent 60 as Leinster made a massive total of 331 for 8 in their 40 overs.
The NCU were bowled out for 118 in reply, as Leinster skipper Dunphy completed a fine all-round day for himself with 3/16, supported by seamers Lorcan Craik and Harry Irving, and fellow leg-spinner Raif Duncan, each of whom took two wickets
The teams clash for a second time today at Pirrie Park in the NCU.
