North Kildare batted first in this Division 4 Cup match in Kenure and after 5 overs were 22/2 when the first interruption of the day occurred. Both wickets fell to Leinster captain Olivia Pacitto and Leinster were firmly on top.

The shower was prolonged and after a break of over an hour the match was reduced to 12 overs a side. It should be noted that extraordinary work from the dedicated groundstaff at Rush ensured that the game resumed so quickly and that conditions were so good on the day.

The DLS calculation set Leinster a target of 76 in 12 overs and the chase turned out to be a roller coaster affair.

For North Kildare Ngai and Lipson took wickets, but Rachel Byrne for Leinster was steadfast and used all her experience to be not out on 38 off 25 balls at the end. Leinster had won with an over to spare, to great scenes of delight from their young team.
