Leinster continue their overseas links by embarking on their second annual Overseas Youth Training Camp at 'La Manga Club'. The magnificent five-star 1400 acre sporting paradise is based in Murcia on south-eastern Spain's Costa Cálida.
The camp is running throughout the current week before Christmas and has been blessed with Spanish sunshine so far.
A group of 12 boys ranging between 14 & 17 years old, all of whom have represented Leinster at youth level, are attending the camp and many of whom are now breaking into senior cricket.
It is hoped that this week long training camp will substanstially assist the boys development and increase their chances of representing Ireland at youth level and beyond.
The La Manga club is world renowned for it's first class sporting and resort amenities and has played host to many sporting organisations such as Munster Rugby and both Armagh and Dublin Gaelic Football sides.
This week, the boys have also enjoyed watching the Belgian Davis Cup team train at the La Manga tennis centre. On site there are dedicated cricketing facilities thanks to La Manga's two cricket ovals, which are accompanied by four full-length practice nets.
There is also a large, comprehensively equipped gym & a 25 metre indoor pool and spa. The boys training programme has seen extensive use of all of these facilities as well as a specially catered cricket programme focusing specifically on the technical, physical and mental aspects of the game.
Cricket Ireland Development Manager Brian O'Rourke & Development Coach Andrew Leonard are leading the training camp for the week.
