On Wednesday, June 10th, the scenic surroundings of Kilbogget Park, Cabinteely played host to the Leprechaun Cup ‘Cailíní’. Now in it’s third year, this primary school girls competition has expanded into regional blitzes across Leinster.
This is the first year Cricket Leinster has run the event in association with Dún Laoighaire-Rathdown County Council. Five teams from four local schools participated in a round robin tournament. For many, it was their first competitive cricket match and following their participation in Cricket Leinster’s Primary schools coaching programme.
Glorious sunshine allowed for perfect cricket conditions with exciting and enthusiastic play from all the girls taking part. Taney Parish NS, Dundrum ended up as winners winning all their games.
Schools Participating
The event took place with the help of Cricket Leinster’s Naomi Scott Hayward, Colm Mooney, Amy Kenealy and DLR community coach Caoilfhionn Rowan along with Cabinteely CC volunteers Pat Finnerty and Sean McGovern.
Many thanks to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and our primary school sponsors Antalis for giving us the ability to run events like these.
