Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce that LHW Financial Planning will sponsor the Open Senior Cup & Senior 2 Cup competitions for 2025.
LHW Financial Planning has been a great supporter of cricket in Leinster over many years and we are therefore very pleased to have the LHW brand associated with our Open Senior Cup competitions for the 2025 season.
As most people will already know, the Leinster Senior Cup competition is played for by the top teams in the province on a knock-out basis culminating in a major Final in early August (which is one of the show-piece events in the club cricket calendar).
The Draw for the LHW Financial Planning Leinster Senior Cup will take place on Saturday 14th December at 10.30am in Clontarf CC and will also be broadcast live on NEAR FM as part of the Saturday’s sports programme presented by Fergus Carroll.
The competition itself will celebrate its 90th year in 2025 having been first played back in 1935. There were eight competing teams/clubs in the first year – Leinster, Civil Service, Clontarf, Merrion, Dublin University, Pembroke, Phoenix and YMCA.
Not surprisingly, many of the same clubs also dominate the historic Senior Cup roll of honour with Phoenix having won the trophy on 15 occasions, Clontarf (14), Pembroke (13), YMCA (11) and Leinster (10). Dublin University have been Champions on 5 occasions including three in a row in 1961, 62 and 63.
The 2025 Final is scheduled for Pembroke’s Ground at Sydney Parade on Saturday 2nd August and will be live-streamed throughout the day via the CL YouTube channel. As part of the day, there will also be the annual CL Patron’s Lunch.
The historic trophy will be presented to the captain of the winning team by Alan Lewis, Managing Director, LHW Financial Planning.
