The Leinster Lightning selectors are delighted to announce the following squads who will take on the Danish National team in two T20 games later this month.
These matches are the biggest part of the team’s pre-season activities, with the first game of the 2015 Hanley Energy Inter-Provincial Series now just over four weeks away.
The matches take place in YMCA Cricket Club on the afternoons of Friday the 17th and Saturday the 18th April. Included as part of their tour is a fixture against the Irish U-19 team who will play Denmark on the morning of the 18th, also in YMCA. The Danes then complete their weekend with a game against current All Ireland champions The Hills Cricket Club on Sunday the 19th April in Milverton.
Following on from his successful full-season debut as skipper in 2014, where he led the team to two of the three titles on offer, John Mooney captains on both days. As the 2015 Lightning squad will be selected soon after this weekend, the selectors have decided to ensure that the majority of the winter training squad participate in the two games.
The first match includes debuts for Clontarf’s Eoghan Delaney and Merrion’s Domonic Joyce – due reward for consistent performances over the past few seasons.
It has been agreed between the two teams that 12 players will be eligible to participate in each match.
