The Lightning Bolts have today announced an updated eleven to take on the Emerging Knights in a 50-over match at College Park, Trinity College on Sunday May 19th.
There is one change from the original side announced earlier in the week, with YMCA’s Rory Anders coming in for James Newland.
The Bolts defeated a Danish Developmental XI 4-0 in a five match T20 series this week, after the first of Friday’s two matches was washed out without a ball being bowled.
In the final game of the series the Bolts won the toss and batted first. Nicolaas Pretorius (31) got the innings up and running with some fine shots, while Theo Lawson deserved a half-century after batting beautifully for his 43 off 38 deliveries (2x4s 1x6).
Captain Gareth Delany did as he does best clubbing 23 off 18 before Jarred Barnes rounded the innings off with 10 off two deliveries. It meant the Bolts had set the Danes 147 to win.
In reply the Danish top-four all got starts but none was able to kick on and make a real fist of chasing down the total. This was due to the impressive spin bowling of Fiachra Tucker (3-15), Matt Ford (2-16) and Mitchell Thompson (2-20).
The Danes were always behind the run rate and three wickets in four balls for 85 sealed their fate. The Bolts emerging 37-run victors and winning the series 4-nil with one match washed out.
Sunday’s match against the Emerging Knights is part of an extended programme for the Bolts this season and both Coach Albert van der Merwe and General Manager of Cricket Leinster Philip Smith acknowledged the invaluable support of sponsors Cairn Homes.
The first ball will be bowled at 11am on Sunday and entrance is free to College Park with full bar facilities available throughout the day.
