The Sherwin O'Riordan sponsored Leinster Lightning Bolts squad for their two Future Series 50 over fixtures this weekend has today been confirmed.
The side will face off against the Emerging Warriors side tomorrow, July 31st, at The Bleachgreen, Ardmore CC, before moving on to The Lawn, Waringstown CC, to face off against the Emerging Knights on Thursday, August 1st.
The side is captained once again by Railway Union's skipper Philippe le Roux, and he's joined in a strong batting unit by Merrion's Swapnil Modgill, Pembroke's Macdara Cosgrave and North County's left-handed number three Suliman Safi.
There are two primary all-rounders, a pair of left handed batters in the middle order in the shape of Clontarf's seamer John McNally and Balbriggan's off-spinner Dylan Lues. Luke Whelan of North County features behind the stumps.
The bowlers see a first call-up for Leinster's left-arm offie Tom Johnson, who has impressed this season in the Premier League, in particular with his 4/22 in Saturday's featured game. Whilst the seamers include a trio of full IP caps, Mikey O'Reilly, Reuben Wilson and Olly Riley.
Lightning Pathway Manager and Head Coach Andre Botha is looking forward to the pair of games, in spite of some significant availability issues;
"Obviously it's a shame to be missing quite a few players from this side, and that has made getting our balance within the 12 a big challenge, however there's still plenty of talent in the squad, and we're looking forward to seeing how these players can step up.
Macdara Cosgrave comes into the batting order having impressed with the Academy side, and we also have Tom Johnson joining the squad for the first time who has been in good form in league games so far this season, so it's exciting to see how adding these guys into the side will get on in this environment.
Our seamers have played a lot of IP cricket for the Lightning side, so these guys will need to use that experience to assist the newer guys in the set up"
