The LHW Financial Planning sponsored Leinster Lightning Bolts take on the Cricket Ireland Academy in the next helping of Future Series action which takes place tomorrow in Oakhill, with the first ball set to be bowled at 10:45am.
The 12 man squad named is an exhibition of the depth of talent on display in Cricket Leinster at the current point in time, as just two of the dozen young talents selected to represent the Bolts tomorrow haven’t been in a full IP squad as yet this season.
YMCA are the main provider to the squad, with five of the side plying their club trade in Claremont Road, including this fixture’s vice-captain Tim Tector, and wicket-keeper Adam Rosslee. Malahide are the only other club with more than one representative, they provide the skipper Alistair Frost and seam-bowler David O’Halloran to the cause.
There’s also representation for Merrion, North Kildare, Pembroke, Railway Union and Terenure who each provide one player to the side.
Skipper Frost will have a bundle of bowling options available to him for this game, with spin available from left-arm orthodox pair Jamie Forbes and Amish Sidhu and leg-breaks from Gavin Hoey and Mitchell Thompson. On the seam front, Liam McCarthy, David O’Halloran, Mikey O’Reilly and Muzamil Sherzad are four more options available before the captain even considers his useful bowling as an option.
With the bat, Séamus Lynch and Tim Tector are the two out-and-out batters in the side, and both are currently in excellent runs of form in club cricket and will look to carry that over. Gavin Hoey was not out at the end of an excellent run chase in last week’s fixture against the Ireland U17s, and will again occupy a middle order slot, whilst Ali Frost has produced some powerful batting performances at number 3 for his club side of late.
