There was no play possible on Day 3 of the Test Triangle Inter-Provincial Championship match between the Lightning and the Warriors at North County as the rain ruined yet another First-Class clash in 2019.
The Lightning’s Barry McCarthy didn’t have a chance to improve on his best First-Class bowling figures of 6 for 63, while William Porterfield was left stranded on 95 not out.
Instead Stumps were called after Lunch on Day 3, when overnight rain was topped up by a fresh shower at Balrothery to finish any chance of play.
The Lightning top the table having taken 10 match points from this final Championship clash of their season. The Warriors take 11 match points, having added a batting bonus point to the bowling points, and stay in third place in the table.
The Championship will be decided when the Warriors host the Northern Knights at Bready between the 27th and 29th of August.
The next Inter-Provincial Championship action is the T20 Festival which gets underway on Friday August 16th at Bready cricket club.
