The Sherwin O’Riordan sponsored Leinster Lightning face off against North West Warriors next week in a back-to-back IP20 and IP50 double header of matches at Sydney Parade, with Head Coach Andre Botha confirming his squad for the two fixtures today.
Wednesday 28th August: Leinster Lightning vs North West Warriors (IP20, 3.30pm start)
Thursday 29th August: Leinster Lightning vs North West Warriors (IP50, 10.45am start)
Leinster Lightning has already won the IP20 title for 2024 (making it 8 times in 12 years). In fact, the team goes into this fixture unbeaten with just this game and one more against the North Knights in Oak Hill to round off another successful T20 campaign.
By contrast, the team has had a challenging time in the IP50 format having won only one of their four fixtures to-date although the most recent game saw the Lightning complete a comprehensive 123-run win over Munster Reds at The Mardyke. Andre Botha will be hoping for more of the same at Sydney Parade next week.
The one change from the squad which travelled to Cork a couple of weeks back is that Jai Moondra of Leinster CC replaces Barry McCarthy who is not yet fully recovered from injury.
