The Sherwin O’Riordan sponsored Leinster Lightning squads for next week’s IP50 games of the 2023 season have been named. The Lightning will be looking to perform strongly having struggled at times this season with player availability issues and the adverse weather. There were encouraging signs at the recent IP20 Festival with good wins recorded over Munster Reds on Day One and the Northern Knights on Day Three (after the wash-out against the Warriors).
As can be seen from the team listings below, Head Coach Andre Botha has a more experienced squad available for the home fixture on Monday next, 14th at The Vineyard before the International squad come together for the India T20 series. From the initial core squad assigned to Leinster Lightning, both Andrew Balbirnie and Josh Little have been largely unavailable for different reasons.
Head Coach Andre Botha will have two different squads across the remaining IP fixtures
Andre will be pleased to have the experience of Simi Singh leading the team for the final fixture of the season at the Mardyke. The squad for this fixture includes some players who have performed well for the Leinster Lightning Bolts in the recently completed Future Series including Dylan Lues and Amish Sidhu.
The experienced Simi Singh will lead the Lightning in The Mardyke
Gavin Hoey returns from injury and is pencilled in for both games. Chris DeFreitas is also included having impressed in the recent Future Series and been part of the squad at the recent T20 Festival at Sydney Parade.
Seamus Lynch comes into the side for the game at The Mardyke and will keep wicket as Lorcan Tucker returns to International duty. Cormac McLoughlin-Gavin is also included in the trip to Cork based on consistent form at club level and List A experience from prior years.
