Leinster Lightning will play the Ireland Under-19 team in a pre-season friendly at YMCA Cricket Club on Saturday 19th April
Coach Trent Johnston says he is delighted that his squad have an opportunity to fine-tune ahead of the first Inter-Provincial 50-over game in The Hills on the 3rd May against the North West Warriors.
“It is a great way for us to prepare for the season, and I think the Under-19′s will also benefit hugely from a fixture against quality opposition,” Johnston said.
Leinster Lightning won the inaugural 3-day RSA Inter-Provincial Championship and Twenty20 Inter-Provincial Trophy last season and Johnston wants to go one better in 2014, targeting a clean sweep of trophies.
“I know the team management and selectors are working hard at the moment to finalise arrangements for the season ahead, and the players and coaching staff are confident of improving on our 2013 results by securing all three trophies on offer this year,” he said.
The starting time of the friendly on the 19th April is yet to be confirmed – details to follow.
