Josh Little Looking Ahead to Day 3
Despite William Porterfield’s heroics yesterday, the Lightning effectively have the Warriors 21/3 as Day 3 of the InterProvincial Championship match gets underway at Bready.
This is a point not lost on Pembroke’s Josh Little. “Hopefully we can get off to a good start and get them a few early down, go through the tail and then whack off whatever we are set.”
Playing in his first multi-innings match Little added a very valuable 27 to the Lightning score, which helped increase the first-innings lead to 193.
“I got a few, Dockers (George Dockrell) asked me to go in and get around 20 so that’s what I did, and I was happy with that,” added Little.
Unfortunately, he won’t be able to contribute with the ball this morning as the Lightning seek those final seven Warriors wicket.
“Yeah it’s a slight side strain I’ve got, the physio said we’ll keep reassessing and it’ll clear up hopefully.”
On a more positive note, Little was named in the Irish international T20 squads for this Sunday’s Ed Joyce Testimonial and the two-match series with India next week.
“I can’t wait to get back involved with the lads, I’m absolutely delighted with the recall,” finished Little.
He, like all the Lightning players, will be hoping that before club and international commitments take over, they are celebrating another Championship victory.
Play resumes at 11am with the Warriors leading by 21 runs with seven second-innings wickets in hand and William Porterfield 115 not out.
