Lynch pins of Terenure 3rd XI
Cricket Leinster would like to invite clubs to send in short articles [and photos] that have a general interest for the cricketing community. Today we have the first from Terenure on players from the same family turning out for one team.
Five members of one family turned out for Terenure 3rds last Saturday as they beat Swords 1sts in an important Division 9 league encounter at Newbridge Desmesne.
Dan Lynch, who also plays for Terenure's Taverners team, joined forces with his four sons (Diarmuid aged 18, Donal aged 17, Gearoid aged 14 and young Seamus aged just 10) as part of Terenure's young 3rd team.
Under the captaincy of eldest boy, Diarmuid, Terenure batted first scoring over 200 runs of which the Lynch family contributed a combined total of 104 runs (Diarmuid (57) Donal (16), Gearoid (14*), Dan (10*) and Seamus (7)).
Terenure then took to the field where sons Diarmuid and Donal combined to take 9 wickets as Terenure won by over 100 runs.
