Based on mid-season results, the competition for places at the top and bottom of Divisions 1 and 2 is looking much tighter this year than last.
At the end of last season, 40 percentage points divided the top from bottom team in Division 1. This year less than 20 percentage points divide the eight teams. In 2010, North County won the league with 85% and in the process lost only one match. At the end of June this year they are still leading, but already have lost three matches and have a percentage of just under 60%.
At the other end of the table, competition is just as intense. The final placing in 2010 saw the three bottom teams with less than 40%. This year the bottom team has 40%. Last season five wins in the league was enough to survive in the top flight. This may very well not be enough this year.
In Division 2 the gap between the top four teams is less than 15 percentage points - a much tighter span than in 2010, when the gap was more than 25 percentage points.
