A school mid-term sports camp for children with disabilities, along with their friends and family was held at the Collinstown Sports Complex in Clondalkin last week. It was a two-day programme run in conjunction with South Dublin County Council on the 29th & 30th of October from 11am – 2pm each day.
As well as Cricket Leinster being present, there were representatives from the FAI, a local gymnastics club (Excel Gymnastics Club in Celbridge) and also a boxing club.
There were 20 children present over the two days where just two had played cricket before. Myself and Kenny Carroll set out our sessions, Kenny running Kwik cricket skills and games where I set up and ran the Table Cricket. Everyone got to have a go at both games. Both were really well received and we will now be working with these groups on a weekly basis.
