Dublin University 1 vs The Hills 1 - The first ever Senior Cup match between the sides, but the 15th Senior match between the two in College Park, with the first occurring nearly exactly 40 years ago on May 22 1983. Dublin University won that one by 6 wickets, but since then have only won once, a Senior League match in April 1988. Of the last nine matches, The Hills won six, with three draws.
Pembroke 1 vs Terenure 1 - Terenure's wins in Sydney Parade don't come around too often. There were "Section B" wins in 2004 and 2007, but the only ever Senior Cup win was back in 1988, when Terenure won by 120 runs. In total, there have been 25 Senior matches between the sides in Sydney Parade, with two draws, five Terenure wins, and 18 wins for Pembroke.
North Kildare 1 vs North County 1 - A first Leinster Senior Cup meeting between the teams, but the third Senior match. One of North Kildare's greatest ever wins was back in 2021, when 6-24 from Muzamil Sherzad bowled County out for 77 to give North Kildare a 151 run win. Eddie Richardson needs 34 runs to get to 5000 Senior runs for North County. He would be the 4th for North County (after Conor Armstong, John Mooney and Andre Botha)
and the 96th player overall.
YMCA 1 vs Leinster 1 - This will be the ninth Leinster Senior Cup match between the teams in Claremont Road, with Leinster winning the last six matches. YMCA's only home win in the fixture was a 113 run win in June 1949. The last time the fixture occured was in 2011, and was one of those matches where no player really dominates. No player got more than two wickets, and the only 50 was a score of exactly 50 from Craig Mallon, as Leinster scored 205/3 in reply to YMCA's 203 all out.
Merrion 1 vs Railway Union 1 - Cricket Leinster's archives now cover all Senior matches back to 1919, and for rivalries like this one, they encompass, many games. In Senior matches in Anglesea Road, Merrion lead 28-26, with 14 draws and two ties. In the Senior Cup, Railway have won the last two matches in Anglesea Road, and we have to go back to 1960 to find Merrion's last win over Railway in the Senior Cup in Anglesea Road, when they won by 2 wickets.
Civil Service 1 vs Rush 1 - A first ever meeting between the clubs at this level. The Rush club don't have a great record in Civil Service, winning only four of the thirteen matches the clubs have played since 2011. Llewelyn Johnson needs 54 runs to reach 1000 Senior runs for Rush, which would make him the 17th player to get there for the club.
Malahide 1 vs Balbriggan 1 - A first ever Leinster Senior Cup match between these teams, but the 13th senior match overall, the head to head being 7-6 in Malahide's favour. Across those thirteen matches, Fintan McAllister has been the leading run scorer for Malahide, with 274 runs at 27.4, whilst their leading wicket takers have been the Peters, Chase (14 wickets at 16.57) and Saville (14 wickets at 14.07). For Balbriggan, the top players have been Connor Fletcher (230 runs at 38.33) and Ehtesham Ahmed (14 wickets at 23.29). Fletcher needs five runs to get to 2000 Senior runs for Balbriggan, and would be the first to achieve that feat for the club.
Phoenix 1 vs Clontarf 1 - One of the oldest fixtures in the province, and one laden with history. Phoenix are 15 times winners (with the last being in 1982), with Clontarf having won the Leinster Senior Cup 14 times (eleven of those wins being since Phoenix last won). In all there have been 177 senior matches between the clubs, with Phoenix winning 81, Clontarf 60, 31 draws, 2 ties and four no results. Tyrone Kane needs 39 runs to reach 3000 Senior runs, with 222 players already having passed 3000. Kane has 2380 runs for Merion (at 25.05) and 581 runs for Phoenix (at 27.67)
Wexford Wanderers 1 vs YMCA 3 - Wexford travelled to YMCA last weekend, and returned with the points, with strong performances from James Harmse (4-40 in his second match for Wexford Wanderers) and Sean Graham (3-29 and 68*). That win put an end to a four match run of YMCA 3 wins (dating back to 2011)
Wicklow County 1 vs Balbriggan 3 - Wicklow County start their league season against a Balbriggan side who have won one and lost one. Back in 2011, the first teams of the clubs were playing fixtures against each other in Division 3, but since then have gone in different directions, and this will be the first game between the two sides at this level. Wicklow County have played a couple of Intermediate Cup games so far this year (unfortunately losing both), with their top performers this year being Prabhjit Singh with the bat (58 runs at 19.33) and Sri Chidipothu and Jithin John who both have three wickets. For Balbriggan, their to players have been Brian Dunphy (118 runs at 39.33) and Iftikhar Sabir (5 at 13.60)
Swords 3 vs Pembroke 5 - It has been a busy league season for Swords so far, with a 1-3 record that isn't as good as they'd have hoped. They host a Pembroke 5 team today who have won one and lost one. The run of losses for Swords in the league will equal their worst ever if they lose again today. On the same subject, Pembroke's win against Wicklow County 2 last week, finally gave Pembroke 5 a league win, after a record breaking 11 matches without a win.
Ongar 2 vs Leinster 6 - Ongar 2 sit proudly on top of Division 19 after two wins, whereas Leinster 6 have a single loss, last week away to Tyrrelstown 5. The match is being played in Ringcommons, a ground which the Leinster club don't have too bad a record, with Leinster 5 beating North County 4 in 2019, and then Finglas 1 in 2021.
Lucan 1 vs Castleknock 2 - No preview, as previous matches this season involving at least one of these teams still to be processed.
Athlone 3 vs Phoenix 6 - Early days in Division 17, with a mid-table clash in Doon, with both sides unbeaten. Athlone beat Mullingar 3 last week, and Phoenix have had two rained off matches! The "Top 500" scorers across the province are also in their early stages. Phoenix 6th's Joshua Gargan is in 321nd place with 38 runs, while John Peter Stephen is the highest Athlone 3 player with 73 runs (in 102nd place). With the ball it is Gargan again for Phoenix his 4 wickets putting him at 158th overall, with the leading Athlone 3 bowlers being Yash Sharma and Philip Sharp with four wickets.
Malahide 6 vs Knockharley 3 - Not the start to the season either team was looking for, with three losses for Malahide, and two for Knockharley. James Dickinson is the leading run scorer so far this season for Malahide 6 with 55 at 55, with their leading wicket taker also being Dickinson with 5-19 in his only match. Against Swords 3 on April 15th, Dickinson became only the 7th Malahide player to take 5 wickets and score 50 runs in an innings since the start of 2011 (and the first for Malahide 6)
Railway Union 5 vs Carlow 2 - Somehow, Division 15 has started the season with ten matches being played, and none rained off. Of those ten matches, Railway have won two and lost one, and Carlow have won one and lost one. In all matches this year, Railway's leading run scorers are Maninderjit Ghai (62 at 62) and Nripendra Pratap Singh (62 at 20.67) and their leading wicket taker is Lalit Saini with 5 wickets at 5.4. For Carlow, the leading run scorer is Satnam Singh with 48 runs without being dismissed, and the leading wicket taker is also Satnam Singh with 5 wickets at 11
Terenure 3 vs Lucan 2 - Lucan 2 are sitting on top of Division 12 (although a couple of results are outstanding). That is in part to a 5 wicket win over Terenure on April 16th, in the first ever meeting between the teams. Ashish Edkee took 4-18 for Lucan, his career best bowling in Leinster in his 22nd match as Terenure were bowled out for 112. Satnam Singh scored 30* as Lucan got home with 14 overs and 5 wickets to spare.
Dundalk 2 vs Castleknock 4 - Two mid table sides in Division 19, Dundalk with a single loss, and Castleknock 4 with a win and a loss. In matches between the clubs, Dundalk lead 3-1, but Dundalk 2 have only played against Castleknock 3 - back in 2014. This is only Castleknock 4's second season in league cricket. Their leading run scorer is Sheriar Irani with an incredible 397 runs at 99.25, with their leading wicket taker being Arjun Rathinam with 12 wickets at 11.42. Dundalk 2 last played in the league from 2012 to 2015, with the top run scorer being Waleed Shahid with 465 at 18.60, and their top wicket taker being Michael Mullen with 43 wickets at 15.58.
Sandyford 2 vs Phoenix 5 - Phoenix 5 sit on top of Division 12 with a 2-1 record, and they travel to Marlay Park to take on Sandyford 2 who lost their only match to Greystones. The last time the teams met was back in 2021, when a Phoenix win broke a run of four Sandyford wins in a row. Rajesh Manirajan and Shekhar Sharma added 111 for Sandyford's 2nd wicket (a record for the 2nd wicket for Sandyford 2), but Sandyford's 212 was not enough, as Dinesh Sagi top scored with 56* seeing Phoenix home by 5 wickets.
Rush 3 vs Swords 2 - Rush are unbeaten with a win over Tyrrelstown 2, and sit in second place in Division 11. Swords will amazingly be half way through their league season after today's game, and whilst they are top of the league ,they are yet to win a game on the pitch.
Tyrrelstown 2 vs Merrion 5 - No preview, as previous matches this season involving at least one of these teams still to be processed.
North County 3 vs Athlone 1 - A clash between two unbeaten sides in Division 8 - North County beating Swords 1, and Athlone getting the best of DLR County 1 and Phoenix 4. Tariq Quadri had an excellent game when the sides met in Inch last year, scoring 55 as County got to an impressive 198/4 from 20 overs, and then taking 5-14 as Athlone were dismissed for 144. He became only the 6th North County player to score a 50 and take 5 wickets in the same innings (since 2011) - Eddie Richardson (twice), Tim Affleck, Brenton Parchment, Zia Mohyuddin and Malcolm Nofal being the others.
DLR County 1 vs Clondalkin 1 - DLR County 1 sit on top of Division 8, with a 2-1 record, although there are three unbeaten sides below them. Clondalkin 1 lost first time out against Knockharley 2. This will be the first time the 1st teams of the clubs have met (Clondalkin 1 beat DLR County 3 in 2018). At the end of last season Clondalkin were ranked the 34th first team in the province, and DLR County were 35.
Knockharley 2 vs Swords 1 - A close rivalry over the years in this fixture, with Swords leading the head to head 5-3. Knockharley have started their season well with wins over Phoenix 4 and Clondalkin 1, whilst Swords 1 have one loss to their name - against North County 3. The highest innings and the best bowling in the fixture are both by Knockharley players - Umar Saleem with 89 in Newbridge Demesne in June 2013 and in the same match, Sohail Qaisar took 4-21.
Greystones 1 vs Adamstown 2 - Two teams that find themselves in the bottom half of the table at this early stage. Greystones have lost to Tyrrelstown 1, and Adamstown a win over Civil Service 3 and a loss to Phoenix 3. History doesn't help Greystones, as they've yet to beat Adamstown 4 in four attempts, although this will be the first league game they have played in Greystones.
Kilkenny 3 vs Clondalkin 3 - The top two teams in Division 18 face off, only six days after they met in Clondalkin last week. Clondalkin's total of 276/8 broke several records. It was the team's highest innings total (in their fourth league season) and the partnership of 89* for the 9th wicket between Sultan Muhammad Nasiri and Muhammad Saud Memon was the highest 9th wicket partnership for the Clondalkin club, for Division 18 and for all matches in Tymon Park. Kilkenny have a lot of work to do to overturn the 145 run loss.
Adamstown 4 vs Mullingar 2 - Limited Division 12 action for these two so far, with Adamstown losing their only game (against Lucan 2) and Mullingar beating Phoenix 5. Adamstown should be strong favourites today, with them winning all four of the previous matches between the teams (two in 2020, and two in 2021)
Clontarf W1 vs Pembroke W1 - The three previous Pilkington matches between Clontarf and Pembroke have been split 2-1 in Pembroke's favour, and they have also had the best indivdual performers. The best bowling in the fixture has been Anna Beale's 4-36 in July 2021, whilst the top score was Mary Waldron with 59 in that same match. Orla Prendergast had a fine game with 54* and 3-41, and Pembroke went on to win by 6 wickets.
Adamstown 8 vs The Hills 5 - Very early days in the Development League/Division 20 with only one game so far completed. The sides met twice in 2022, with Adamstown winning both of the matches, which were played in Margaretstown.
Halverstown 1 vs Adamstown 5 - Halverstown have yet to complete a league game, whilst Adamstown haven't had the best of seasons with losses to Dundalk 1 and Finglas 2. In three matches between the sides over the last five seasons, Halverstown have won two. More interestingly, no team from Adamstown has won in Brannockstown since May 2015, with Adamstown 4, Adamstown 5, Adamstown 7 and Adamstown 8 all being beaten in that time.
Castleknock 3 vs Adamstown 6 - Both sides have started their league season well, with two wins each in Division 16. For Castleknock, their leading run scorer this season has been Wasiq Ansari with 111 runs at 56.5, with their leading wicket taker being Sohail Khan with 4 wickets at 10.75. Mullingar 4 vs Clontarf 7 - Group A of the Minor 2 Cup has been destroyed by rain, with all four matched so far being called off. Mullingar 4 have never played league cricket, and so their entire history has been the two rained off matches against The Hills 5 on April 16! Before this year, Clontarf 7 last played league cricket from 2011-2013. Thier highest run scorer is Adam Gilbride with 543 runs at 17.52, and their highest wicket taker is John Watson with 36 wickets at 17.92.
