Greetings from all of us here at Muir College.
On Monday all four of us got the opportunity to coach the school U11 and U13 teams here. I was really impressed with the skill levels of the younger cricketers as all of them can field very well and nearly all of them can bowl on the stumps.
On Wednesday Fionn and Sam coached in College Hill Preparatory school, the feeder school for both Muir College and Riebeck College, the neighbouring girls school to Muir. While they were coaching myself and Mark went to Woodridge to play a T20 with the 3rd XI. We bowled first and bowled Woodridge out for 49. I only bowled 2 overs and got 2 wickets but Mark came on to bowl and got 3-15 from 2.3 overs. He was on a hat-trick and on his hat-trick ball the batsman edged it past first slip.
On Thursday it was myself and Mark's turn to go and coach in College Hill. We only did the very basic stuff like how to catch and throw but they picked it up very quickly and we are due to coach there again this week.
On Saturday it was game day against Kingswood. The 1st XI were playing away while the 2nd XI were playing at home. A regular player for the 1st XI missed the bus to go to Grahamstown so he played for us which was very fortunate for us as he scored 93 and gave us a fighting chance. Our score was 173 all out but his innings wasn't enough though as Kingswood knocked off the runs after 40 odd overs while losing only 2 wickets. The 1st XI lost also.
All in all it was a very eventful week !! This weekend’s games area against Union High school from Graff Rienet. We are all eagerly looking forward to yet another fixture.
