Taking Smash It and It’s Wicket! into the winter
The diversity of the Smash It and It’s Wicket! national programmes allow them to be run all year round through various formats. So, if your club is looking to introduce new participants to cricket, link in with existing members or even set up a youth section, running the programmes during the winter is a great option.
Clubs can run a programme at any stage during the year to get kids together to have fun, make friends and enjoy cricket!
How to run Smash It over the winter
Deciding on the format of your chosen programme is the first step.
Both programmes can be run as camps during school holidays at your cricket ground or at an indoor venue (sports hall). We would recommend delivering Smash It as a 6–8-week programme with one 45 minute-1 hour session every week. Similarly, we recommend delivering It’s Wicket! as a 6-week programme consisting of one 45minute-1 hour session every week.
Next steps
Once you have decided on how and where you will run your chosen programme it’s time to sign up.
Once the above is completed and participants have signed up your club is ready to go!
