The Leinster Lightning today announce their squad for Tuesday’s Test Triangle Interprovincial T20 against the Munster Reds at The Mardyke which sees one change to the side that defeated the Warriors last Thursday.
Josh Little suffered a cut to his hand during his club’s Leinster Senior League Cup match at the weekend and has been ruled out of this week’s InterProvincial action.
As a result, Malahide’s James Newland has been drafted into the Lightning T20 squad.
Head Coach Nigel Jones had this to say. “It is unfortunate for Josh, but these things do happen from time to time. James Newland has been a consistent performer in T20 cricket for Malahide over recent seasons and was involved in winter sessions with the Lightning
“He has been in good form for MCC in recent club performances too and his left arm option fits well, especially given who he is coming in for.
Moving on to Tuesday’s game Jones continued. “We’ve had two strong performances, but it’s important we push our game on and don’t sit back on those results. So, we’re looking to put in another clinical performance against Munster on Tuesday.
“If we keep focusing on what we are doing and how well we’re doing that, the results will take care of themselves. That’s the message I’ve been passing on to the boys.
“We’re certainly looking forward to getting another game of cricket in. Hopefully, the weather plays its part and The Mardyke will be a picture as it always is.”
The Lightning continue their interprovincial campaign with a T20 fixture against the Munster Reds at 1.30pm on Tuesday September 1st. The squad for that match is below.
