1. Cricket Leinster Website
Much of the administration for the season will continue to happen through the Cricket Leinster website. Those of you who were involved with this last year will be familiar with its operation.
However, those of you who are from clubs who are new to LCU competitions (or if you have taken on a new role in your club) will need to get up to speed on the operation of the website.
A guide was designed in 2011, and it will help you through the back end of the website.
The guide can be found on the website at http://www.cricketleinster.ie/regulations/guidance, and can be downloaded here
In order to get entry to the website, you will need login details. You should be able to get the details from someone in your club, assuming you don’t have them to hand. If you are from a new club, or cannot track down the existing password, please get in touch with Paul Reynolds
2. Player Registration
The LCU is continuing to base the amount of each club’s subscriptions by the number of players it has registered on April 1st. Although this is nothing to do with the OCC, it means that the players you have registered on the website, should as closely match the players who will be playing this year as possible. Players who are not playing in 2013 should be removed.
There have been a couple of changes in the information required for player registration this year. All the information must be provided before a player will be approved. There is now a “youth” box to be selected. If the player is a youth player (born after 1st September 1992), then his/her date of birth must also be entered.
3. Turf and non-turf pitches
The issue of the use of non-turf pitches in LCU competitions has not yet been resolved. The OCC has therefore decided to continue with the regulation introduced for 2012.
Thus for 2012 the situation continues that all matches in the Open Competitions may be played on non-turf wickets.
The practical situation is thus the same as in 2012 as follows. For Division 1, 2 and the Senior Cup, host clubs must have informed the OCC before April 1stwhich matches they will be playing on a non-turf pitch. For all other divisions and cups the longstanding regulation remains (whereby clubs must contact the opposition 48 hours at the latest before the game if they are changing the surface that the match is to be played on).
The OCC will assume that all Division 1, 2, Alan Murray and RSA Senior Cup matches will be played on grass (except for Terenure matches which are played on non-turf) UNLESS a club has informed us otherwise, before April 1st 2013.
4. Starrings
The starring system remains as in 2012. There have however been some changes to the wording of the relevant regulations. The aim of these (it is hoped) is to clarify requirements for clubs, their responsibilities in this area and the way the OCC will operate in monitoring them.
A full document will be sent to clubs shortly explaining matters in more detail.
Starrings continue to be submitted through the website and the deadline remains the Tuesday before the 2nd Wednesday of each month except April when Monday 15th is the deadline.
The dates whereby starrings MUST be submitted in 2013 are therefore April 15th, May 7th, June 11th, July 9th and August 13th
Please get in touch with Michael Sharp or Howard Askew if you have any questions that any of this raises.
