This is the final article from the OCC before the season starts, this time with the important details of how all teams will be asked to submit scorecards for all Open Competition matches (ie Divisions 1-14, all cups, and all 20 over cups). The guide details the ONLY way that scorecards can be submitted this year (no more bothering Michael Sharp please!), and as such is vital reading for anyone connected with the playing of cricket in the Open Comps. (click here to download the guide)
The LCU is trying to use the new website as an opportunity to embrace new technology. CricketStatz (the details of how to use are contained within the attachment) is crucial to this.
For the traditionalists amongst you the process will be as follows. You will use a scorebook as normal. Instead of sending off an email/letter to Michael Sharp with the details of your team, you will now send the scorecard in CricketStatz. As this will only be when you are playing at home, this should lessen the workload. (but don't forget the umpire's grading form and the result on the LCU site as per previous mails!)
However, for those of you of a more technological bent, we will accept scorecards that are produced electrionically. Not all scoring software is compatible with CricketStatz, but Inningz (for iPhone/iPad), Total Cricket Scorer (for PC and Android), and PitchPad (for PC and Windows Mobile) are. For those of you who want to go down this route, the procedure would be score the match on your phone/computer, and then press button to send scorecard. You would then just have to submit the umpires reports and result to the LCU website. We would suggest though that only the home side scores on a computer - there should always be a paper scorebook as a back up.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this. Hoepfully you will all see the results once the season starts!
