Rory Anders comes into the Lightning squad as Barry McCarthy misses out in the one change to the announced Leinster Lightning squad to take on the North West Warriors in Bready on May 23rd.
Pembroke’s Barry McCarthy, who has been involved in both the Tri-Series and ODI series with Afghanistan for Ireland, has picked up a knee problem and is replaced by YMCA’s Anders.
Rory Anders has been in great form for his club and the Lightning Bolts in recent weeks. As well as the eye-catching 6 for 6 he took against the Emerging Northern Knights on May 19th, Anders has looked threatening with his seam bowling and powerful pinch-hitting.
These two sides were due to open the competition in La Manga, but that game was washed out before the Lightning defeated the Knights by six wickets, largely on the back of Andrew Balbirnie’s 125 and Lorcan Tucker’s 81.
Head Coach Albert van der Merwe is relishing the trip to the North West on Thursday.
“We’re excited to get going in the InterProvincial series again after a month of international cricket. The North West Warriors are always tough to beat at home, and we expect nothing different up in Bready.”
