The 5 th annual O'Neill's Cricket Leinster 'School of Excellence' took place over three days this week with more than 70 children attending for all three days of expert coaching and analysis.
The 'School of Excellence' was hosted with thanks to Phoenix Cricket Club, with specialised coaching sessions across batting, bowling, wicketkeeping and fielding at both the training facilities and open-wicket sessions at the Phoenix Park.
On the third and final day of the camp, the 'School of Excellence' was fortunate to have Ireland Test Cricketer, Andrew Balbirnie attend to pass on some batting tips and present some special awards for the most improved players over the course of the week.
The young quick bowlers were also given a special seam-bowling masterclass from Senior Ireland bowling coach, Rob Cassell on the final afternoon and he was impressed by the quality of the young Leinster talent on display.
A large group of Cricket Leinster coaches were on hand throughout the week to run the 'School of Excellence' with Development Manager, Brían O'Rourke being joined by Fintan McAllister, Reinhardt Strydom, Diarmuid Lynch, Rory Anders, Theo Dempsey, Rony Hoque, Stephen Moreton and Mitchell Thompson.
Cricket Leinster would like to express their thanks to the camp sponsors, O'Neill’s and Phoenix Cricket Club who were fantastic hosts. Special thanks too must go to both Andrew Balbirnie and Rob Cassell as well as all the Leinster coaches for their efforts in a hugely successful week.
