The final set of averages, based on 1st June figures, for young players [U15 Age Cohort] participating in Open Competitions. The overall number of players is 81 [taking part in 307 matches]. As would be expected the majority play in teams form the lower Divisions. These serve as an introduction to adult sport for many young cricketers. In light of the concerns expressed by Craig Senior and others about the way matches in some of the lower Divisions are umpired this raises the question about what values are being passed on.
Of course not all U15s play on lower Divisions. Up to the first of June 7 had played in D1or D2. Six players had scored more than 100 runs. Sanil Gupta [Pembroke] has the most runs but Rory McGovern the highest average. He also is the only player to get a century and in so doing help YMCA V [D10] to break Slieve Bloom’s unbeaten home record [nine wins].
