The Draws for the Skellig Six 18 Leinster Senior Cup and Senior 2 Cup competitions took place on Saturday morning, 16th December 2023 at Clontarf CC.
Both Draws were broadcast live on NEAR FM as part of Fergus Carroll’s weekly sports programme and via CL social media.
The Draws took place in the company of June O'Connell (CEO Skellig Six 18 Distillery), Pat Banahan (CL President for 2023), Jim Bennett (CL President for 2022), Micky Lowe (Chair OCC) and Steve Wood (Secretary OCC).
There were also some leading club players in attendance including Eoghan Delany (Captain, Clontarf CC, 2023 Champions) and Dom Joyce (Captain, Merrion CC).
SKELLIG SIX 18 SENIOR CUP (2024)
The Open Senior Cup competition dates back 88 years to 1935 and was initially played for by eight clubs - Leinster, Civil Service, Clontarf, Merrion, Dublin University, Pembroke, Phoenix and YMCA.
The competition has been played in various formats over the decades. The 2024 iteration will, once again, be played as a white-ball (coloured kit) knock-out competition. Dublin University will be participating in the competition again in 2024 having last won the Senior Cup trophy in 1963 (as the third year of a treble success in the competition). Clontarf are the holders having won the 2023 competition defeating The Hills in the Skellig Six 18 Senior Cup Final at Sydney Parade last August.

SKELLIG SIX 18 SENIOR 2 CUP (2024)
This competition is also played as a 50-over knock-out competition (coloured clothing & white ball). There will be 20 teams competing in 2024 with 8 of those teams drawn to play 4 preliminary round ties with the winners joining the remaining 12 teams as part of the first round draw. The 20 participating teams include the top 15 second teams in the province and the first teams of Adamstown, Knockharley, Longford, Sandyford and Wexford Wanderers.
Pembroke 2s are the holders having won the 2023 competition defeating Malahide in the Final which was hosted by Balbriggan at Jack Harper Memorial Ground. It was a historic day for Pembroke as they became Senior 2 Champions for the first time in 47 years.
