There are 21 scheduled OC matches this afternoon, a full day of women’s T20s [Super3] in The Maws [North Kildare] and plenty of Development and Youth games. The weather is not all that promising [light rain likely in the morning with some heavy downpours] but it is expected to improve during the afternoon and get much warmer.
So what to look out for? There is the final of the Middle Cup between YMCA III and Merrion IV that takes place in Balbriggan. A couple of Semi-Finals: Mullingar III v Leinster VI [Minor II] and North County IV v Clontarf V [Junior].
In the leagues there are three games in D3. The leaders, Leinster II, have yet to lose a match and take on YMCA II who need a win to keep them above the drop zone. Clontarf II need to forget the celebrations on winning the Senior II Cup and focus on the league where they are currently at the foot of the table. They take on Merrion at Castle Avenue, who also need a win to get early season momentum going again. The third game is a mid-table clash between The Hills II and Phoenix II.
In D5 the win yesterday for YMCA III [3rd] puts more pressure on leaders Longford who lost their first game last weekend to second placed Clontarf III. Today Longford should have an easier task at home v Adamstown.
There is plenty of competition at the top of D6. Railway’s one run win against Merrion Vs yesterday means that Malahide III need a win v Rush II to keep in contention.
At Anglesea Road, leaders Merrion VI will be looking for a win v North Kildare III to stay ahead of challengers Ashbourne, whose match today is postponed due to a cup clash.
In D12 Sandyford II need to win v Swords II, to keep leaders Balbriggan III honest. But there is a massive gap and Balbriggan are currently running away with this league.
In D15 Knockharley III are in second place and will be looking for a win over Rinscommons II to keep pressure on Tyrrelstown. And, finally, top of the table in D16, Bagenalstown have a tricky away fixture v Leinster VI.
