Cricket Ireland has today confirmed that Paul Reynolds has been promoted to the International Cricket Council’s second-tier International Umpires Panel.
Reynolds joins Mark Hawthorne, Alan Neill and Roland Black as Cricket Ireland’s four representatives. All four umpires will be in action this week in the India T20I series at Malahide.
Reynolds, who enjoyed some success during his playing career with Leinster Cricket Club, has already stood in four First-Class matches, three List-A T20s and four Women’s Internationals.
“As with all aspects of Irish cricket, it’s an exciting time to be an umpire in Ireland, and I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to develop my umpiring at the next level. We’ve been blessed with some outstanding umpires over the years, and hopefully I can do my bit to showcase Irish officials on the world stage,” he said.
Simon Dyke, Cricket Ireland’s Cricket Operations Manager, said: “Paul completes our panel of four umpires eligible to stand in Internationals, by joining the ICC’s International Umpire Panel, and Cricket Ireland congratulates him on his appointment. His thorough working knowledge of the Laws, empathy with players, as well as calm approach to every match in which he stands, is a testament to his umpiring ability. We look forward to Paul excelling out in the middle in international matches.”
