Cricket Leinster is delighted to announce the appointment of Philip Smith as its General Manager.
As part of this new role, Philip will lead the Cricket Leinster in the next phase of its development including the transition to a new governance structure, the appointment of the new Board and the preparation of a revised Strategy and Development Plan 2017-2020.
Philip brings a broad-based leadership skill-set along with business and marketing experience to the role. He will be responsible for bringing people together to combine the efforts of staff and volunteers to drive cricket forward in Leinster.
Philip has a good knowledge of the issues at club level across Leinster and has been Chairman of Terenure CC since 2013. He previously served on the committee at YMCA CC and has an excellent understanding of what it takes to effectively run our local clubs. He was also recently elected to the Executive Committee of Cricket Leinster.
In announcing this exciting initiative, Derek Dockrell, President of Cricket Leinster, said “I am delighted to announce Philip’s appointment as General Manager of Cricket Leinster. I have no doubt that Philip will contribute greatly to the development of the sport across the province. This strategic appointment demonstrates a strong commitment by Cricket Ireland to strengthening the provincial unions and I would like to thank them for their support”.
Commenting on his appointment, Philip said “It is an honour and a privilege to have been appointed General Manager of Cricket Leinster and I will work tirelessly to deliver for our clubs and their members - this is an exciting time for cricket in Ireland and Leinster and I look forward to helping channel our collective efforts towards making cricket a mainstream sport”
Philip will commence his new role as General Manager of Cricket Leinster on 10th April.
