Founded in 1830, Phoenix Cricket Club (phoenixcricketclub.com) is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world. The club is comprised of men’s, women’s and youth sections and is located in the Phoenix Park in Dublin, one of the largest city parks in Europe.
As the club builds towards it’s bicentenary, a strategic focus is to increase participation and strengthen its women’s section. Currently the club has two women’s teams playing in the Sprint Coatings Divisions 1 and 4 in Cricket Leinster.
The successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract, subject to annual performance reviews.
The Opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to build on their coaching career by developing a successful and thriving women’s section within one of the strongest cricket clubs in Leinster. The club is offering an attractive package with accommodation if required.
⇒ Devise and implement a coaching strategy for the development of players on both women’s teams and further strengthen the 1st XI by playing on the team. This will involve at least four coaching sessions a week and attendance at 20-over mid-week matches (approximately 2 matches/week, some weekend matches, occasional 40-over games).
⇒ Create an attractive participation model to increase the number of women playing cricket at Phoenix.
⇒ The individual will have the leadership skills to take initiatives, to motivate and inspire the club’s female players and to establish a culture of involvement, improvement, and fun.
The Person:
o Relevant verified coaching qualifications and experience
o Solid verified playing experience at senior level, particular strength in batting
