'The inaugural, 'Phoenix Cricket School of Excellence', is now open for Registration.
Phoenix Cricket Club has launched a significant initiative targetted at cricket loving boys and girls between the ages of 11 to 14 years. It is open to children who want to seriously develop their game, whether they belong to Phoenix or not.
A programme of structured coaching for technique as well as game management is prepared for children to get significant time with bat and ball, this summer.
Top Leinster Coach Matt Lunson leads the programme, he states, "This new initiative, created by the Phoenix Cricket Club, is a superb opportunity for aspiring young cricketers to make real and tangible improvements to their cricketing abilities. There will be over 12 hours of organised sessions each week, using the full facilities at Phoenix, including the bowling machine, centre wicket, batting cages and nets, concentrating on both skill development and game management. I will be supported this year by Phoenix Club Professional, 'Lucky' Peterson, an exciting young talent from Australia. In addition, specially invited guest coaches will attend to lead masterclasses in Seam or Spin Bowling, Batting and Keeping....a truly superb opportunity, don't miss it and register early!"
Club President, Michael Brown, who has masterminded the Youth development at Phoenix over the last few years, confirms, "I have long seen Phoenix as not just a community club for all to enjoy cricket, but also a club which is a centre for cricketing excellence for the most aspiring young cricket talent. Because we have a superb Youth coaching team at Phoenix I'm keen to invite children from other Club's to attend this new summer programme. So to all youngsters, if you are ambitious in cricket, come and join us, and bring your new improved skills back to your Clubs."
