Bowled! by Paul O'Donohoe
We are now pleased to announce the winner of the Photo of the Month competition for April/May, kindly sponsored by Bermingham Cameras.
The judges had a difficult decision, but after some deliberation they came up with a shortlist of 4 photos: -
Omar Rasool's near still life image of the match ball on the boundary at Portlaoise was very different from the mainly action photos we received.
Deryck Vincent's image from the School's Senior Cup final between CUS and St Andrews showed an anxious moment for the batsman as the ball almost dropped back onto his stumps.
Eamonn Lawless' picture taken at the Greystones match v Cabinteely showed the contrasting emotions of the dismissed batsman slinking off with his stumps in a state of disarray, as well as the delight of the successful bowler.
However, the winner for this month, who receives the €50 voucher for Bermingham Cameras, (and becomes a contender for the Photo of the Year prize), is Paul O'Donohoe, who captured Michael Cotter of Terenure being bowled in the Division 2 match v Rush. We liked the fact that the batsman was off the ground, with the dislodged bail in the air and the ball in the picture. We suspect Michael Cotter mightn't be quite as happy as Paul!
With June well under way and lots of matches being played throughout Leinster, we look forward to getting more entries for the June competition.
All four short-listed photos are included in the Photo Gallery on the Home Page of the Website.
